Think Again About Using AI | Kathy Nie | TEDxNACIS Shanghai Youth

That AI is merely a shortcut to answers, not a path to genuine growth. True intelligence is built through the process of struggling, questioning, and even failing. When we hand that process over to a machine, we may gain speed, but we lose something far more valuable—the capacity to think independently and the confidence that comes from overcoming challenges on our own. She hopes that after this talk, every listener will pause before turning to AI and ask themselves: "Am I giving up a chance to grow?" She wants the audience to see that our wisdom and problem-solving abilities are shaped by thinking, striving, and learning from mistakes—not by being handed the right answers. Use AI wisely, but always put your own brain first. I'm a curious girl who loves painting rainbows, dancing to happy beats, and playing melodies on the piano. But what fascinates me more is the joy of learning and thinking. I love asking "why" – why is the sky blue? Why do flowers have different colors? These questions are keys that open doors to knowledge. Learning and exploring are wonderful adventures. In books, I travel back in time to talk with ancient poets; in nature, I watch how ants work together. Painting teaches me to observe details. Dancing lets me feel rhythm. Playing piano helps me understand musical emotions. These hobbies show me beauty and wisdom are everywhere. I also love to share. Whenever I learn something new, I tell my parents and friends right away. I believe sharing happiness and wisdom makes happiness greater and wisdom shine brighter.
